6.Evening Wildlife Safari from Stockholm

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 83 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $182

Leave central Stockholm with a small group of up to eight and head into the countryside at dusk. A guide such as Jana, Francisco, Chris, or Erik leads a short forest walk, serves a traditional Midsummer meal, and searches fields and woods for moose, deer, hares, wild boar, and birds. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

“The evening started with a drive to a pretty place for a typical Swedish meal. We had three types of pickled herring, potatoes, crackers with cheese, and a salad. So much food. We saw every kind of animal expected: hares, foxes, wild boar families, roe deer, a squirrel, and several moose. Our guide, Toya (I'm sorry that the name is probably not right), could not have been more engaging. Ten stars!”

“We actually had a run in with a moose! Super exciting and memorable. Saw loads of other animals—wild boar, dozens of deer, and had a very committed young guide. Teriffic walk in the woods. Yucky dinner and no water or wine. Just beer and apple juice. Anyway, it wasn’t about the food.”

“Because our last tour here was so much fun, we went on a second excursion: Sbowmobil and ice fishing. It was so great! I could snowmobile all day long. 😄 No fish bit while ice fishing, but we had a happy picnic on the ice. It was really impressive how quickly our guide Rachel got holes in the thick ice! As last time, she was also an excellent guide: always cheerful, helpful and very thoughtful. We finished off with a delicious meal in the very cosy Máttaráhkká Lodge. We will stay here on our next Lapland holiday. The lodge is small, very cosy and the owners are lovely. You can…”

9.Snowmobile Safari to Lapland viewpoint

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 7 reviews · 5 hours (approx.) · from $369

Ride a shared snowmobile from Kiruna to a Lapland viewpoint above the tree line, stopping for coffee by a fire and a short ice-fishing tryout. Arctic clothing, hotel pickup, Swedish fika, and a two-course lunch are included. The tour runs in English, starts at 9:00 am, and welcomes adults aged 18 and over.

“Overall good. The snow mobile experience was very good. The lunch was great. We expected to be a little farther out in Arctic tundra but it was much closer to Kiruna. We were told that we would not see Reindeer about a month before the event without a deeper explanation. The trip was non refundable which became a problem when we accidentally booked it for the wrong date. It became very difficult to reschedule it.”
